Saluda Recreation Project

Dear Potential Donors,
The Gussie Wortham Foundation will be resurfacing the basketball courts at The Brooks and Roston Memorial Park in Saluda, SC. The basketball courts could then be used by the residents of Saluda for recreation and outdoor events. In order to complete the resurfacing of the basketball courts, it will cost approximately $5,000- $10,000 which would be used to resurface the two basketball courts, repair the back boards, replace the rims, and replace nets.  We are seeking donations great or small to assist in reaching our goal. We are a nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible. To donate click on the donate button,we accept Paypal or Zelle. Individual and company donors will be highlighted on our foundation’s website and on a banner that will be at the site of the renovated courts. Also, take time out to check out "Our Initatives"page to see the before project photos.
In 2018 the Gussie Wortham Foundation Inc. was invited to Saluda, South Carolina.  We met at the future home of the Riverside Community Center. We were fascinated to learn about the history of Saluda and met several community members all who are working towards rebuilding the community. During the pandemic, we went to Saluda on different occasions to assist with cleaning up the site. In addition, we held a Christmas toy giveaway, a shoe giveaway, and have donated school supplies to the Saluda community. The Saluda community which consist of a population of about 3,100 residents thats 70% of the community which are minorities, that live well below the poverty level. The Gussie Wortham Foundation's mission is to serve our communities and provide resources, services and donations to underserved and disenfranchised. Our "Don't Talk About Me Teach Me" mindset was instilled with our sheer commitment to uplift and enhance communities in any way we can assist them.
